Dale conjures fond memories of summers spent in the Northeast Kingdom, when he welcomes celebrated Vermont-based comics artist, James Kochalka. Dale and James have a spirited conversation about unusual sea-beasts, fatherhood in space, and ghostly companions, all of which have found their way into James’ prolific output. The first Cartoonist Laureate of Vermont, James is widely known for his daily diaristic comics, having pioneered the form in his epic series, American Elf. That work prompts Dale to consider what it means to document one’s life and how people change over time.
