Deep Night Season 9: Michael Chernus

Dale delves into the finer points of crafting compelling characters in this conversation with acclaimed actor, Michael Chernus. Keen viewers will recognize Michael from his many appearances in such films as Captain Phillips, People Places Things, Complete Unknown, and Mistress America. On the TV and streaming devices, he’s garnered critical attention for his performances in Patriot, Easy, and Orange is the New Black. In July he officially joins the Marvel Universe, portraying the villainous Tinkerer in the blockbuster Spider-Man: Homecoming. Dale and Michael seize the rare moment between red carpet events and television shooting schedules to talk about Michael’s Ohio roots; his early forays into complicated theatrical terrain; and how his affinity for world building allows him to create believable personas for the stage and screen. Dale and Michael are not so different at the end of the day, and unfortunately the two ran out of time before really getting into their love of magical altars and mystic practices for the home, two passions to be explored on a future episode. In the meantime, Dale is thrilled to bring additional awareness to the wonderful upstate project, Space on Ryder Farm, for which Michael is an enthusiastic ambassador.

There are two exciting opportunities to catch Dale live in the coming weeks! On May 1st, at The Slipper Room, Dale rejoins the gang at Running Late with Scott Rogowsky for a show alongside some of his talk show heroes including Dick Cavett, Tom Scharpling, and Sal Vulcano.
